Illinois Indoor Water Parks

The indoor water park phenomenon started in Wisconsin Dells in 1994 and spread to the Midwest, including Illinois (and throughout the US), soon thereafter. There are a number of hotels with indoor water parks around the state, which follow. Click on a park for more info.

During a building boom in the mid-2000s, a number of indoor water park resorts were proposed for Illinois. But the recession that started in 2008 ended many of the plans, including Frontier Lodge in LaSalle, Grizzly Falls Resort in Rosemont, Sun Island Water Park Resort in Hoffman Estates, and Waves of Fun, an indoor water park proposed for the Best Western Timber Creek Inn in Sandwich. Also, there was a second CoCo Key Water resort at the Sheraton Chicago in Arlington Heights, but that closed in 2009.

The following are parks that are open. They are listed alphabetically.

CoCo Key Water Resort at Clock Tower Resort

Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Lodge
Utica, IL
Open to registered hotel guests.

KeyLime Cove Water Paradise Resort
Gurnee, IL
Medium-sized indoor water park.

Mayan Adventure
Elmhurst, Illinois
Open to registered hotel guests.
